Plan B News March 17 2007
Hi Everyone. Top of the Morning to You.
Happy Saint Patrick's Day.
It is really looking like spring
here in Northwest Arkansas. Forsythia is in bloom,
as are the wild plum tress.
Looks like I really goofed with the last newsletter.
I put the links on my website, but did not put them in the newsletter
that I sent out in text.
So from now on I will just let you know that there is a newsletter
on line, and you can go to the newsletter and there you will see the
links.
I could put them in html instead of a text letter, but
I prefer text as it is faster loading. In fact, I always delete
attachments, and go through my html mail and delete a lot of it, too.
Main Topic: Getting Started in Affiliate Marketing,
Auctions and Websites
A. Affiliate Marketing
I hope you had a chance to download the Affiliate
Masters handbook from Ken Evoy since the last newsletter.
If you have not, to to my website and you will find the
links here (March 3 newsletter)

B. Auctions
Have you signed up with eBay yet? There are a lot of tutorials
on eBay for both buyers and sellers. You can find it on the sitemap of eBay
Click for eBay
Also, you can get an idea of what people want by looking in the Want it Now pages on eBay.

C. Stores/Websites
1. Picking out a niche
Are you familiar with a particular subject? That would be
a good choice for your first niche. On the other hand, if
it is too obscure a subject that no one else is interested
in, try another, more interesting topic.
Here is a source to find out if your niche keywords
have enough traffic to warrant a website:Click for
Search Keyword
For some reason, I could not get to the keyword search using Juno. If you
get a horrible message, like UNAUTHORIZED, go to Google Click for Google
and type in
search suggestion tool. The top tools should be for overture, yahoo.
If there is little traffic to them, try a broader search
2. Hosting for your website
I use Dayana host for a lot of my hosting.
It is fairly reasonable and very reliable.
If you exceed your quota (bandwidth) in your uploads,
they will tell you right away. Or if you exceed your
bandwidth for people going to your site, they will also
tell you right away.
Here is the website for Dayana Hosting Service
Click for
Dayana Hosting
I have a reseller account there:I can host a bunch of my sites
all on one host.
Caution Do not make the mistake of linking
one site to another. That is not considered a good backlink.
3. How to build a simple site using html
This is another area I really goofed on. If you didn't right
click on the text and then click on view source, you would not even know
how I did it, much less copy it to notepad.
I have decided I will do some screen captures and put out
a little book about the html. I did a book for a friend of mine
when I gave her a website for her birthday.
Here is the url for the PDF file. Right Click Here for Simple Html ebook
D. Snippets:
I have a folder in my WIP folder on my
desktop called Snippets. Here is a snippet
for you: It is for the date and time
You will have to right click on the text on this page and then click on view source to see what it is. I have tried
to put it in plain text, but nothing shows up. Seems it will only show up online.
This goes at the end of your text, inside
the body of your html code.
You can see it below right after my mailto name
Another snippet of code. You need to right click on the text and
click on the view source to view all of these snippets. Remember to save
them in a file called snippets after you have copy and paste them to notepad.
This one is for the Big red A

E. Marketing Tip:
I am running a Classified Ad on eBay to get subscribers to this site.
I am allowed to put information such as my URL which is usually a NO NO
on auction sites. I was charged $9.95 for 30 days. If it doesn't pull any
one in, I will change the ad. You can see the ad here:

F. Review:
Doll Photography Made Easy by Bennett Dawson
This is a great book on photographing dolls for the
purpose of selling the clothing on eBay. However, it is
also great for anyone withing to do a good job of photographing
anything else for eBay or other auction sites.
While it is only a 44 page book, it is loaded with color photos
of dolls, photograph equipment, and drawings.
Since eBay gives you one free image, and charges you for each
extra image, you can host your images on your own website if you
have one, and the images from your website look a lot better than
eBay's images. Plus, you can have any size you want and compress them
for fast loading.
Have you ever waited for a picture to load on a website and said
what the heck! and clicked off the website? I do it all the time, even
at eBay. Well, here is an additional report along with the main book
that shows you how to do just that. It is called "How to Build A Composite JPG Image".
It explains how to get many images on one image for your ebay sales
instead of many slow loading images.
attention, and doing everything right. But I went too
fast, and didn't do it step by step, baby step by step.
I give this book an A+, and it is relatively inexpensive, only $19.95, full of gorgeous photos of dolls.
A word of CAUTION
I have duplex printing set on my printer.
This Photography book is printed in landscape (wider than tall).
It has one page printed right-side up, while the back side of the
page is printed upside down. Not great for reading.
I reprinted it in single mode, not duplex, and although I have a fatter
book, it is a lot easier to read.
Here is the URL for the book.

My Closing words: Each day do one of these 2 things:
1. Add a keyword focused article to your site
2. Get a link to a keyword focused page
.
See you about April 1 or so
Best of everything to you and yours
