6 Ways to Advertise your Business -FREE

1. Articles that YOU write
What is your field of expertise? Can you write an article about just one facet? Then another, and another? (Looks like you might end up with a book). Contact ezines that you are interested in, and ask them if they accept articles. You can put a bio at the end of your article, with your website or email address or other method of contact.
How about your local paper? Is your subject covered? If not, try sending a few sample articles to the editor to see if they would be interested in a column.

2. Press Releases
Again, for your local paper. Why would the paper be interested in you or what you are doing? Do you have a handout you can send to people who reply? Or samples if they come to your store? Or a special for readers of the paper? How about a contest or special day?

3. Do you have a website? Do you have a special "niche" that you are catering to? How about a link to a non-competing website if they will link back to you? Some search engines rate your website by how many sites are linked to yours.

4. Classified sites
It used to be possible to advertise on FFA sites and get traffic. Now all you get is a lot of autoresponder mail. But not all is lost - Yahoo classifieds are still effective, as is Craig's List.
There is a new Classified Ad section on eBay. I am using it now.

5. Ebay or other auctions
Do you have a product or products? Try Ebay for massive exposure. Try one item at first. If you have 100 items, you will have to pay for each one whether you sell them or not, and the sense of urgency just isn't there.

6. If you read a lot of books on your area of expertise, and can write a good book report, write them for Amazon.com. They will let you put a bio of yourself on their site.
